Overview - During Dave Koch’s twenty-five years of corporate in-plant printing management positions, Dave Koch managed internal printing and reprographic's facilities for Sears Roebuck and Co, Hughes Aircraft Co. and Certified Grocers. Due to corporate down sizing and the increased trend in closing internal printing operations in the early 1990's, Dave Koch thought the time was right to venture into the commercial printing field. After months of reviewing business locations, opportunities and printing trends the following business matured. The Future - Future plans are based upon our clients needs. 1996 -
Burbank Print & Copy Center acquires its first commercial building in
Burbank. Prior to moving into the new facility, the 7,000 sq. foot building
was retrofitted to include complete computer and network wiring through
out the entire office environment on both floors. January 1996 - Burbank Copy Center changes company name to Burbank Print & Copy Center. Due to the volume of work being processed and the direction of the company, it was decided to enhance the company name promoting its ability to handle both the printing and copying needs of its clients. January 1995 - Burbank Copy Center incorporates and J&D ICON Corporation is formed. October 1993 - Burbank Copy Center purchased. This existing copy center was established in 1981. At time of acquisition, Burbank Copy Center was only processing black and white copies on aging Xerox technology. Due to the information age and technology changes within the industry, Burbank Copy was quickly losing a hold on the business market. Upon ownership change, Dave Koch's direction was to not only maintain the dwindling client base but expand this base by adding offset printing to the copy center. The new printing services department was a success and the business doubled in sales. Due to the increase in sales and volume, the small leased 1200 square foot retail store front had become quite cramped. Therefore, as a short term fix, an adjacent garage was converted into a camera and typesetting room so as to keep control of its increased client print requests. |
